DVLA
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport. If you get a Speeding Fine or Speeding Ticket and receive Penalty Points you will have to post your licence to the DVLA to receive the points.
Most people know DVLA as the place that provides drivers with an updated tax disc for their vehicle. However, they also support law enforcement by maintaining an up to date register of drivers and vehicles and also help deliver a wide range of road safety initiatives in conjunction with the Department for Transport. DVLA states that it plays a major role in crime prevention and crime reduction through enforcement, prosecution and intelligence gathering with customers include the public, vehicle dealers, traders in personalised number plates and vehicle importers. Other partners and stakeholders are police forces, magistrates and civil courts, motor trade associations and the like.
DVLA operates from its HQ in Swansea and 39 local offices, 12 enforcement centres and unlicensed vehicle hotline centre spread across GB. It employs over 7,000 staff. Their website with full contact details and information is http://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/vehicles.aspx
